CSE CAPABILITIES

Biological Diversity Conserved

CSE has developed a new process of environmental problem solving based on the belief that answers arise from the process of study and analysis rather than from a predetermined set of findings. Our scientists seek objective, rational, scientifically-based solutions. CSE research bridges the gap between basic academic investigation and real-life application.

CSE offers a broad range of capabilities to communities, citizens groups, industry, and governmental agencies. Our capabilities include:

  1. Providing independent and innovative approaches to solving environmental problems and policy issues (see Mono Lake Study)

  2. Addressing environmental concerns with advanced application of data bases (see Salmon Study)

  3. Solving environmental problems with community outreach programs (see Salmon Study & Minnesota Land Use Project)

  4. Developing forecasting methods and computer modeling for natural resource management (see JABOWA III)

  5. Leading innovative resource management workshops by bringing together experts from many disciplines, citizens groups, corporate representatives, and diverse governmental agencies (see Fighting Fire with Fire)

  6. Providing statistical analyzes of available data on environmental issues (see Salmon Study)

  7. Drawing upon local citizen expertise and knowledge as an aid to solving environmental problems (see Salmon Study, Minnesota Land Use)

  8. Utilizing historical information to understand natural ecosystems (see Salmon Study, Mono Lake Study)

  9. Providing environmental education through lectures, publications and public forums (see Salmon Study, Minnesota Land Use, Ecosystem Management on DoD Lands)

  10. Preparing "roadmaps" to guide communities in the development of land use plans (see Minnesota Land Use)

  11. Training scientists and technicians in the use of advanced computer methodologies for analysis of environmental issues (see Project Status Report)

  12. Developing and providing training in new approaches for ecosystem management and adaptive management (see Ecosystem Management on DoD Lands)

  13. Providing guidance in industrial and non-industrial forestry (see JABOWA III)
