CSE ARTICLES
LEWIS & CLARK ON THE ROADThe section features month by month essays on the expedition of Lewis and Clark, from the city of St. Louis, to the mouth of the Columbia River. Each month's story is a chapter from Passage of Discovery: The American River Guide to the Missouri River of Lewis and Clark, by Daniel B. Botkin, Penguin-Putnam Pub., N.Y. The book has 42 chapters taking the expedition across the American West. Each chapter describes some of what Lewis and Clark saw and experienced during each month, how the countryside through which they passed has changed since their journey of 1804-1806, what kinds of environmental issues confront us today at the locations through which they past, and how Lewis and Clark's approach to nature during each month can show us the way to solve our modern environmental problems. This section of the web site will feature a different chapter each month, for the next twelve months. The entire book is available at your local bookstore or through our bookstore page.
